Meatonomics 101: Where’s The Beef, Texas?

Have you ever wondered where all the beef cattle in Texas are located?

I took data from the USDA and made a map. The bigger and greener (?) a dot is, the more beef cattle live in that area.

I wasn’t able to map by county, so I randomly selected cities located within the counties from the USDA data. Thus, the beef cattle population you see is for the whole county and not just the city I selected.

Oh, and just to reiterate: this is only for beef cattle. The map I made does not represent all cattle populations.

Note: the interactive map (the one below this text) will take 2-3 minutes to generate because there are so many data points. Please be patient while it loads!
